The Aerospace Corporation created the Space Attack Research and Tactic Analysis (SPARTA) matrix to address the information and communication barriers that hinder the identification and sharing of space-system Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs). SPARTA is intended to provide unclassified information to space professionals about how space systems may be compromised via cyber and traditional counterspace means. The matrix defines and categorizes commonly identified activities that contribute to space system compromises, now encompassing both spacecraft and ground segment capabilities. SPARTA builds on foundational Aerospace work including TOR 2021-01333 REV A, which is cross-referenced to SPARTA TTPs, TOR-2023-02161 Rev A , which applies SPARTA to derive NIST 800-53 controls, and VTR-2026-00702 Rev A, which provides the basis for ground segment guidance.
