Space Segment Guidance

Physical and environmental protection for spacecraft spans the vehicle, AIT/launch sites, mission operations centers, and ground stations. Consider how responsibilities and decision rights shift across organizations and phases (integration, launch/LEOP, nominal, maintenance, disposal); how custody, sealing, and configuration measurement protect flight hardware pre-launch; and how ground facilities maintain access control, monitoring, and resilience. Policies that name demarcation points, required evidence (e.g., seal logs, photo records, image/bitstream IDs), and cross-organization coordination tend to hold up during time-critical operations.
