Space Segment Guidance

Transmission confidentiality and integrity often combine link and message-level protections. Consider cryptographic protection for forward (commands, keys) and return (telemetry, payload) paths suited to orbit, link budget, and regulatory constraints, with anti-replay bound to time and sequence. Message or application-layer integrity (MAC/signature) can complement link crypto so assurance survives relays, storage/forwarding, and partner stations, with operator feedback that distinguishes corruption from authorization failures.
